Dave King /President/Creative Director
Dave is the founder and creative spirit of the agency. Having worked at some of the hottest small shops in the country, he transferred that love for the agile and responsive firms to create his own. He’s won countless awards for his clients over the last 29 years. He loves his job. He loves cars. And he loves dogs because he can’t have bears in his neighborhood.
Mary CakeSenior Account Director
Mary Cake /Senior Account Director
Mary brings the best of both worlds to TKA’s clients. A fantastic, can-do attitude and exceptional marketing know-how. Having held senior positions at Martin Agency and PUNCH, Mary has led efforts for well known brands such as Discover Card, Walmart, PING, Hanes, Anthem and Moen. Whether leading clients through the development of a strategic marketing plan, or making sure projects stay on time and on budget, Mary loves making friends along the way. But don’t be fooled by the sweet exterior. Mary is a Pit Bull with a pork chop when it comes to details. Off the clock, Mary loves a good barre class (or a bar, whichever is closest) – and is a “total beach girl”.
Brooke ThaxtonAccount Executive
Brooke Thaxton /Account Executive
Originally a TKA intern, Brooke spread her wings working in sales and start-up marketing. But you know what they say – once a TKA-er, always a TKA-er. So Brooke couldn’t help but return in 2017, this time as a member of our Account team. Brooke generates great ideas, fosters client happiness and basically keeps the chaos under control. Her love for people and all things social media runs deep. But not as deep as her desire to have a drink named after her.

Brenda Hayes /Accounting
Creativity in marketing is a huge asset. Creativity in accounting can get you in trouble. Brenda keeps us in-line and makes us check our math… twice. She’s a veteran CPA and we hear pretty good at those word games.
Nan JohnsonDirector of Public Relations
Nan Johnson /Director of Public Relations
Quite possibly, Nan’s career in PR began in high school when she won the State of Virginia Forensics Championship in the category of “after dinner speaking.” Needless to say, Nan is still quite the talker. But she also knows what she’s talking about, too. Nan has handled everything from bomb threats to actual bombings, hazmat spills to bovine TB, and local, state, regional and international media relations. We’re glad to have her as our expert PR counsel, and we hope we don’t need her services for any incidents after holiday parties. If we do, we’re in good hands.
