Getting to Know: Jenna Miller
As our services and clients keep growing, so does our team! We are excited to introduce you to the newest addition to The King Agency team, Jenna Miller, our new Communications Specialist. We sat down with Jenna and asked her some awesome questions. Get to know Jenna!
The King Agency: We heard you’re pretty new to Richmond! What brought you to the lovely city of RVA?
Jenna Miller: I moved to Richmond in March 2021 with my boyfriend, so we’ve been here about a year now. It feels like just yesterday we were packing up the car to move cross-country! My boyfriend is a golf professional and got a sweet job at a local golf club here. We filled my little Jeep Patriot to the brim and moved from Palm Springs, California to Richmond in just five days. It was a wild ride but I’m so glad to be here enjoying this wonderful city!
TKA: What was it like to graduate from college in 2020 at the start of the pandemic?
Jenna: It was definitely…different than most graduations I’ve been to. After being told we had one week to leave campus, I packed up my car and drove to my parent’s home in Colorado. I finished off my classes online and celebrated my graduation with my parents and brother in Colorado while the rest of my family joined in via Zoom. My cap and gown were still in California, so I put on my favorite bathrobe and my high school cap, drank a margarita and celebrated with my family! It was not what I expected, but it was perfect in every way.
TKA: Where were you working before coming to The King Agency?
Jenna: I was freelancing for about a year out of school writing for publications like San Diego Magazine and Palm Springs Life Magazine, and also writing for blogs on various topics from volleyball to health and wellness. Then, I produced podcasts at a media company called Young and Profiting (YAP), where I fell in love with podcasting and audio storytelling. It was a fully remote job, and I started to crave that in-person connection again, along with working in the social media space. So I applied for the Communications Specialist position at The King Agency. And I’m so glad I did!
TKA: Why is social media such an important part of building your company or personal brand?
Jenna: I believe everyone should have a social media presence if they own a business. It’s not just about influencers and political hot takes anymore. Social media is a great tool to help you build your brand awareness with your clients, consumers, and community. With so many people using social media, it’s a great way to reach new audiences without spending loads of money. Show people who you are and what your brand means through social media!
TKA: What do you like most about your current position at The King Agency?
Jenna: I hate to be cliché, but the people and culture here are what make this job so awesome. I have the best team of people teaching me new things and supporting the ideas I have (no matter how crazy they are). I love that dogs roam freely in the office and that Cheez-Its roam freely in the pantry. We all have so much fun here and it leads to us producing really awesome and creative products. It truly is the best place to work!
TKA: What is your favorite restaurant in Richmond so far?
Jenna: Oh boy, that’s a tough question. I would have to say Garnett’s. This place makes the BEST sandwiches, hands down. My favorites are the chicken salad and Point Guard. Plus, this little restaurant is just a 5-minute walk from my place.
TKA: What is your spirit animal?
Jenna: I think my spirit animal would be a bear because I love a good nap in the winter, I love playing in the river, and I love a good piece of salmon.
TKA: Share a photo of your dog!
Auggie – He’s a wild one, but very cute!
